My Best Friend’s Girl; What do Women Want?

So what do women want? What do men want? We all think that we have the answers and something in life always catches us off guard.

I watched My Best Friend’s Girl, and I must say I really enjoyed it. If you can get past the vulgarity and intense sexual scenes of the movie, it has a pretty good message.

Anyway, here is a brief recap of the movie.

Dustin, an amiable guy, is in love with Alexis, a coworker. When she tells him she just wants to be friends, he hires his roommate Tank, a fast-talking, amoral scoundrel who has a side business: men whose women have dumped them hire Tank to take their ex-girlfriends out on the date from Hell, to drive the women back into their old boyfriends’ arms. He takes out Alexis who, against her better judgment, decides she needs some randy fun, so Tank is in a quandary: take Alexis up on her offer, or stay true to his friend. More complications ensue as the wedding of Alexis’ sister approaches. Tank seeks advice from his father, Dustin pursues Alexis, and questions of self-worth need answers.  Written by: {jhailey@hotmail.com}

Life’s Calling: Lights, Camera, Action, Take One!

By: L Jones

  Yesterday I did something that I never did before. I went to a casting call and auditioned for a part in a low budget pilot for a television show that will be pitched to the networks this summer. At first I was nervous, but then I thought to myself, what are you scared of? This is how the whole thing happened.

  My son came home from school with the script. He had an appointment to audition for a part at 5:10 pm on Saturday at the local library.  He was a little bit reluctant about reading for the part, because he hadn’t memorized the character’s lines. I explained to him that he would probably be able to read from the script and that I thought it would be a good idea that he go.I remember as a child having opportunities to do things and not taking advantage, because I was scared or not confident enough to try; I later regretted not taking some of those opportunities. I didn’t want that for him. We read a few lines, enough that he became confident once more and agreed to try.

  I had to write a paper for my college course; one that I still have not finished by the way. (Did any of you read my post about procrastination?)  I asked the kids if they felt like going to the library. Long story short we went, I did some research, he was able to read for the part early. I went to the area where they were conducting the auditions and there was a hallway lined up with high school kids. By the way, the show is about high school kids.

  The lady who was gathering the information for the casting call asked me if I was reading for any of the parts. I told her no, I was just there supporting my son. And that was it. We left the library after he was done doing his reading and went to get something to eat. I couldn’t stop thinking about the opportunity that I was once again passing up.

  After some convincing from my son, I decided to go and take a shot. When I came back, the lady expressed how thankful she was that I came back to audition. She let me go right in ahead of the high school kids. She asked them if they minded.

  The point I had to make to myself is that life is too short to be filled with regrets. When opportunities present themselves, take a chance. You never know what may come of it. I should know by Friday what came of my reading. It was not great by the way. If they give me a sample, I wil put it on Youtube. Until then…

Rhianna’s Run In With Love

 By: L Jones

How many of you out there think that Rhianna still loves Chris Brown? Anyone? Well, I do. I pretty much see them getting back together whenever all this hoopla dies down.

It’s probably better that this type of incident happened publicly. Why do I say this? Simply because, I believe that Rhianna still loves Chris Brown. Since they will probably be together in the foreseeable future, it is good that his darker side emerged in such a manner that he is pushed into a position to seek help. Now all of you out there stop getting all holier than thou and let these two lovebirds sing.

But, I would be wrong if I did not speak on the incident. Do I believe that Chris Brown was wrong? Hell yes. Look at the photos. How can you hit a woman in the face like that? Since I have no idea what the situation was that led up to the physical assault, I and no one else is really in a position to judge, except maybe a judge, if it’s deemed necessary. But let me give you something to think about.

Just because Rhianna is pretty and sweet looking and slim and talented and sexy and whatever other adjective you can think of to describe her, she is a strong black woman. I don’t mean mentally strong, though she is, but I mean determined to succeed.

Who had bite marks on them? Rhianna right? Have you ever seen a person get bit who was not controlling the fight? I haven’t; not never. Biting is the last resort to getting out of some sort of submissive position that a person finds him or herself in. Think about it for a little bit. Stop judging. Let these two love birds get the physical and mental care that they need to hopefully help mend, strengthen and  further blossom their relationship. Tattoos are forever.
