New York Post Stimulate Racial Tensions
By: L Jones

I was driving home from work today, when I heard the radio station celebrity soliciting for people to call in and respond to the New York Post printing of a political cartoon. I didn’t know what they were talking about, but everyone who called in were pretty irate about it. I kept listening as they talked with a black caller from northern Florida and white female from Virginia. They mentioned terms like, blatant racism and hatred and treason. “What were they talking about?” I wondered.
“New York Post publishes picture of a monkey with two bullet holes in his chest with two police standing over the monkey saying…”, well you can see the picture. My first reaction was of curiosity, not anger. What is the point of getting angry? Every country in the world knows how infected the United States is with racism; and with a black president at the helm for the first time, I didn’t expect anything less.
I question how the cartoon was published in the first place by such a major newspaper? What were they trying to accomplish? What I do know is that the marriage between the many nationalities of this great nation is once again estranged. The only question is will there be a bitter divorce?
