WTF AIG?

By: L Jones

WTF AIG?

The country’s financial foundation is crumbling. US citizens are losing jobs, money, homes and patience.  Who’s to blame? So many things are the blame, but AIG has the misfortune of being one of the faces associated with the country’s current financial woes. AIG’s alleged mismanagement and poor financial decisions has placed the company in the center of country’s resentment bull’s eye.

Fast forward to now; after the billions of tax-payer’s dollars to “bail-out” one of the country’s leading insurance companies; in a sense insuring the company’s future. MILLION DOLLAR plus bonuses. Ok, I understand that companies give their employees bonuses when the company turns a profit. Why the hell are employees of a failing company getting million dollar plus bonuses?

Edward M. Liddy, Chairman and CEO of AIG, wrote a letter offering the reason for the decisions and plans for the future. Click here if you’d like to read the letter. It’s a good read. He pretty much says that the decision to pay the bonuses was approved sometime last year, when he was not in power.  All I’m saying is, you are in power now. Those bonuses should have been revoked. All the higher ups need to be replaced and AIG needs to start earning their keep or be dismantled. That’s just what I think.

What do you think?

New York Post Stimulate Racial Tensions

By: L Jones

I was driving home from work today, when I heard the radio station celebrity soliciting for people to call in and respond to the New York Post printing of a political cartoon. I didn’t know what they were talking about, but everyone who called in were pretty irate about it. I kept listening as they talked with a black caller from northern Florida and white female from Virginia. They mentioned terms like, blatant racism and hatred and treason. “What were they talking about?” I wondered.

“New York Post publishes picture of a monkey with two bullet holes in his chest with two police standing over the monkey saying…”, well you can see the picture. My first reaction was of curiosity, not anger. What is the point of getting angry? Every country in the world knows how infected the United States is with racism; and with a black president at the helm for the first time, I didn’t expect anything less.

I question how the cartoon was published in the first place by such a major newspaper? What were they trying to accomplish? What I do know is that the marriage between the many nationalities of this great nation is once again estranged. The only question is will there be a bitter divorce?

The Drunken Truth: AA Don’t Have Nothing on Them

New York man with anti-DWI device in own car, crashes rental

Talk about not knowing what’s good for you, a New York man who had an anti-DWI device installed in his car due to a drunken driving conviction, rents a car and crashes it. You want to know why he crashed it? He was intoxicated. You have to give the guy an “A” for his conviction; get it, conviction?

A police representative from Suffolk County said that 27-year-old Marvin Rice Jr., a convicted drunk driver, lost control of the rental car and hit a utility pole in Brentwood on the morning of 15 Feb 2009. I guess he had a bad Valentine’s Day.

Marvin had agreed to have the device installed in his vehicle after a previous DWI conviction. The device tests for alcohol in a driver’s breath before starting the car.

Mr. Rice is being treated for multiple injuries and is scheduled to be arraigned for DWI charges.

Allegedly intoxicated couple ask police to be designated driver

“I did what?” I’m sure this is the question that Michael Bell of Texas City and an unknown woman must have asked themselves when they woke up the next morning after a long night of alleged illegal substance use. The allegedly intoxicated couple, in their divine wisdom went to a police station in search of their designated driver; where the unnamed woman collapses in the lobby.

This draws the attention of the police, who later search Michael and arrest him after finding marijuana in his sock.

The woman, who received medical attention, recovered and will be cited for public intoxication.

Michael Carl Bell of Texas City was jailed on a marijuana possession charge. His bond was said to be $2,592.
