Steve Harvey visited the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Willow Grove today to promote his new book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man“. The ladies that made it to the event early enough were armed with book in hand, waiting for the opportunity to get their books signed and to have a word with the talented radio show host, comedian and actor.

Steve Harvey was scheduled to arrive at 7pm. Around 6:50 pm “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man“, was sold out. I watched a Barnes and Noble employee hand out the final two copies of the book to two overly grateful women. Each group of women that I witnessed who showed up after that point, were upset when they sold out sign posted on the billboard outside of the store. A man walked up to me and asked if I had a copy of the book. I laughed and told him, “I already know how to think like a man.” He laughed and I continued “My wife is inside… maybe his book can help her understand how I think.”

Though I was unable to talk with Steve Harvey, I watched his demeanor from a distance and he seemed to be really enjoying himself, having hearty conversations and making new and lasting fans.
I will eventually buy this book, to ensure for accuracy. But seriously, judging from the looks of the turn out at the Barnes and Nobel in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, I’d say Steve Harvey has a future best seller on the market.
His next stop on the book signing tour is Largo, MD on Friday January 30 at the Borders at 931 Capital Centre Blvd.,
Following that Mr. Harvey will be appearing at the Wal-Mart in Marietta, GA on Monday, 2 Feb at 6pm.

“Fall in.” I stand tall; chin up and shoulders back. “Suck in that gut”, I remind myself as I stand rigid on a 76 degree Fahrenheit Wednesday morning in Hawaii, waiting for my soldiers to form up for physical training formation also called PT. Everyone moves with a purpose, effectively converting the gaggle of individuals into one rectangular fighting force. Today’s a good day to be in the Army.
But today is not a day for fighting; it’s a day for physical exertion and mental fatigue. It’s a day for too many push ups and too long a run. It’s time for a strong mind and an iron will.
A few miles into the run, I see recognize the look of defeat in some of their eyes. “It’s just a few moments out of your lives” I scream. “Get your minds right.” A few more miles go by and we are nearing the original starting point. A look of relief hijacks their weary eyes; but I know better. I know that our leaders are not going to stop at the starting point; they’re going to run right by that point and go for about another mile and then turn around and come back. I’ve seen it before. Their minds have surrendered themselves to the hopes of stopping at that point. I scream out, “Get your minds right” but the mind is a powerful thing. It was midnight as soon as we reach that starting point, because that rectangular fighting force transforms right back into a gaggle of individuals.

After much hollering, coaching and threats, the formation forms back up, we run the extra mile and stop the run immediately after. All you hear is coughing and vomiting and complaining and then, “AT EASE!” and it all stops. The mind does matter.

To all you Dallas Cowboys and Terrell Owens fans out there (me included), the show ain’t over yet. As Will Smith in Independence Day said, “I ain’t heard no fat lady sing.”
After the unexpected meltdown and subsequent end to the Dallas Cowboy’s 08-09 football season show, VH1 has decided to create a spin off of the show and the star is, who else but the Cowboy’s controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens. Terrell, fondly known as T.O. who caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, is best known for his sideline antics and his outspokenness. VH1 is giving him the opportunity to put those “loveable” qualities to use when they start filming the show this summer.
“T.O.’s best friends and publicists — Monique Jackson and Kita Williams — will help him re-examine his personal life. The two will work as “matchmakers and therapists” for Owens.” (AP)
This should be pure entertainment. We’ll talk about this one later when the show airs. See you then.
