Gran Torino - What I think about Gran Torino
Hello all my fellow thinkers. Today I thought I’d do a movie review. Some movies just touch you the right way, you know? Make you think about all types of stuff. Gran Torino did this for me. It made me revisit a time when I came across a person, who I thought was a jerk. A great first impressions huh? What I realize is that this person may (1) have been a jerk, or (2) I didn’t know enough to make that judgment.
Clint Eastwood, the director of Gran Torino, plays as Walt Kowalski, a hardened and and very racist Korean War veteran, who befriends a Hmong teenage boy, played by Bee Vang, after the boy attempts to steal Walt’s classic 1972 Gran Torino.Clint Eastwood told a wonderful story with Gran Torino.
What I THINK of the movie: I really enjoyed the film. It’s classic Clint Eastwood, just the right amount of action, with an excellent story line. Clint Eastwood’s excessive growling was a bit much, but his character was interesting and believable. I fell in love with the characters and found myself concerned for the welfare of the malleable Hmong teenager and the sickly Walt Kowalski. The movie also brings up an excellent example of judging a book by it’s cover. A good quote that I heard in another movie is “Everyone has a story.” If you take the time to read all the pages, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what that story is about. Don’t always assume you know, because you don’t.
Finally, if you are looking for a decent movie with a solid story line, with the right combination of suspense, action and morality, then I recommend this movie with no reservations.
Also, I love great endings.
